update ugh!!!!!

June 18th, 2006 at 09:57 pm

Well it's been a couple weeks since I posted and it's been a real spendy couple of weeks. Frown Let's see dh's birthday was last weekend, father's day this weekend. Let's just say I have fallen completely off the frugal wagon - but am hopping right back on tomorrow!

Our electric bill came in - it's NOT good - over $200 already! Frown Back to hanging out ALL laundry.
Today I have the a/c off and the house opened up -it's about 92 outside but there is a nice breeze and a couple of ceiling fans and it's nice in here.

Tracking all spending again - dh is on vacation this week. There will be some planned spending BUT definitely want to keep it down as much as possible.

I am not able to work as many hours as I had hoped. Frown But I am considering opening up an online business that I had before. So we'll see how that goes. I'll update a little later on the decision.

Have a great day!

Thrifty tuesday!

Haven't spent any $$ the last couple of days. Took dd to get her haircut but she paid for that. Smile
I have been having at least one whole meal as a leftover every night - been freezing them for dson's and dh's lunches.

I used the dryer today but only for one load. No real reason except laziness.

florida has love bugs - they honestly haven't been that bad this year. But they do get all over your car. Dryer sheet lightly damp - wipes them right off the hood of your car. Smile Of course I didn't use a FULL dryer sheet - only 1/4 of it. LOL So I thought that was pretty frugal.

I made 2 batches of brownies and 2 batches of blueberry muffins today.

All meals have been eating out of the pantry/freezer the last few days. We didn't order pizza this weekend - yeah! That's a huge step for us. We're bad about that. But that saved us almost $30 this weekend.

Still looking for little ways to save here and there. I think our electric bill will be high this month. Frown Not looking forward to that one. At the beginning of the month we set the a/c at 78 then kept bumping it up now it's on 82 during the day and 80 for 2 hours before we go to bed. I have been watching the kwh and it's not good. Frown

June Goals:

June 2nd, 2006 at 03:08 am

Grocery spending Goal $550
Ef - get that up to $400 or more
Keep up with the budgeting.

I would love to save more - but dh's birthday and father's day is in June. So $$$ will be spent there. I am taking dh away for the night on his birthday - got a hotel on the beach and dinner out for about $100. Smile Got a very good deal - we stayed in the same hotel last year and it was great!

Working - I would like to make $200 more than I normally do. Since I work from home - it's possible. If I meet this goal - the extra will go towards the car payment and savings.

So I guess those are the main goals for the month of june. Oh besides learning to scratch cook more. Smile

Blueberries and groceries

June 2nd, 2006 at 03:03 am

Wow - did I learn alot about grocery shopping this past month. We were spending $1000 - 1200 a month! UGH!! Now there are 9 of us, most eat like adults and a big dog - but come on that's a TON of money. So my goal was to cut that down to $600 and I came in under that. Smile WOOHOO!! A little over $500 actually. We haven't changed anything that we are eating - and honestly I haven't tried a ton of scratch cooking yet - that's june's goal. Smile
I didn't clip any coupons - well I take that back - I did clip them just forget to take them to the store.......... So they haven't done me any good. Frown
One thing I really want to learn to make is an awesome homemade pizza - that's our weakness. Ordering pizza on the weekends Frown
I planned menus, made a list and shopped. That's it honestly! I kept track of every penny that we spent.
We also went blueberry picking at a u pick farm - what fun!! Oh my - if you ever get a chance to do it - try it! We picked 27 1/2 lbs of blueberries - they were $1 a lb so I spetn 27.50 and added that into our grocery spending. We obviously won't eat them all this month. But it's stockpiling - little by little.
Considering going strawberry picking later in June - 50cents a lb. Just need to find time to do it. Smile
So now it's time to look for those blueberry recipes also. Smile

Goals for the month of May Met!

June 2nd, 2006 at 02:47 am

Here were the goals:
May Goals:
1. Lower Grocery bill to $600/spent $518.70 I did it! I came in under our goal!
2. Car loan $8200/$6150 ** need to check this tomorrow exactly what it went down to.
3. Start an EF - so far $200.02 I started with $1 on May 10, 2006

We weren't saving anything and spending $1000 plus per groceries! That's insane!! I am not even sure HOW we were doing that?
So I think we are finally on the right track! Smile
